It is incredibly important to know what type of pacifier and teething toy is suitable and safe for a baby to put in their mouth, especially since some brands uses soft Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) plastics, which contains phthalates, a compound that may constitute risk factors towards the baby’s health.

Every parent wants the best for their child, and the best pacifier and teething toy would have to be completely organic and sustainable to ensure that the child isn’t exposed to any potential risks and harmful chemicals!

A local brand for sustainable baby essentials

Local online brand, the baby closet, was founded in 2020 as an e-commerce platform by two loving parents, Keith and Jayne, after the birth of their baby girl in 2017.

They believe in the importance of natural organic baby products and leaving behind a sustainable world for their child. Inspired their need for quality organic, sustainable baby essentials, Keith and Jayne did extensive research into the best materials and products that comes along with the best practices in caring for a newborn. Often, they had to source globally which led to high costs, long shipping times, and limited information and support.

Keith and Jayne want to make use of their years of experience in business and finance to create awareness and change the way chemicals and huge waste impact baby clothes in the region today.

Because of the seriousness of climate change, there is a huge opportunity to make a change in the use of eco-friendly, sustainable, and organic baby essentials, with a big focus on natural materials and baby safety, while reducing carbon impact and waste.

the baby closet’s vision is to reimagine organic sustainable baby essentials in a world which may not be the same in time to come, and they hope to build a community and network of partners and parents with similar beliefs and values for the generations to come. the baby closet believes in careful sourcing and partnering with like-minded companies across the globe to achieve the commitment of curating high quality, organic baby essentials that are kind to the baby and can be handed down through generations. The organic essentials available on its website are individually tested and handpicked, made from organic products derived naturally. The products are also eco-friendly – mainly chemical-free and non-toxic, making them soft and gentle even on the most delicate and sensitive skin.

Fostering a nurturing ecosystem with partnerships and collaborations

In partnership with Danish brand Natursutten, Natursutten’s products are designed and manufactured to ensure a more chemical-free future for the children and for the environment by making top-quality, toxin-free products.

Natursutten is made ecologically sustainable from pure natural rubber from the tree Hevea brasiliensis. Its products are designed in Denmark and handcrafted exclusively in Italy, and their pacifiers are certified to conform to the European Union (EU) directive concerned with safety, health, and the environment. the baby closet includes Natursutten’s signature pacifiers and teething toy in their series of must-have baby essentials! Natursutten’s pacifiers have no cracks, crevices, or joints where bacteria can hide, and the naturally soft rubber does not leave marks on the baby’s face.

It is also environmentally friendly, sustainable, and biodegradable. Their pacifiers avoid allergy-causing substances, artificial colour, cancer-causing substances, hormone disturbing substances, chemical softeners, parabens, PVC, and phthalates, making it the safest choice for babies!

Natursutten’s Butterfly Pacifier is the way to go

Their pacifiers come in TWO different designs – original and butterfly, and each design comes with either an orthodontic or rounded nipple, specifically curated to the different wants a baby may have. Natursutten’s Original Pacifiers are designed to closely simulate breastfeeding and provide a soothing experience for the baby, while the Butterfly Pacifiers’ shield has a cut-off top which gives it its butterfly shape and leaves more room for the baby’s nose.

The choice between orthodontic and rounded is based on the baby’s preference and is difficult to predict. While some babies take both shapes, others are choosier and need to try both in order to find the best match.

Orthodontic pacifiers are flat on the bottom and round at the top, which may be better for the development of a baby’s palate and jaw, while rounded pacifiers are shaped like a small ball.

Both nipple shapes are available with the Original and Butterfly shields, and in sizes S (0 – 6 months), M (6 – 12 months), and L (12 months and above). However, the age ranges are only a guide, and some babies prefer a larger, and some have a smaller nipple.

Natursutten’s starfish-shaped Teether Toy is priced at S$27.90. Natursutten’s products are available for purchase at the baby closet’s website, http://thebabycloset.sg.
