State Property and MORNING transform coffee machines into works of art for charity auction in Singapore

Three one-of-a-kind coffee machines inspired by a child’s imagination are going under the hammer, with all proceeds supporting Rainbow Centre in Singapore. What happens when fine jewellery craftsmanship meets the everyday ritual of making coffee? In Singapore, the result is an unexpected collaboration that brings together thoughtful design, a child’s imagination and a meaningful charitable cause.

Homegrown fine jewellery house State Property and coffee technology company MORNING have joined forces to create three limited-edition coffee machines inspired by State Property’s The Story of Everything jewellery collection.

Each machine features intricate, hand-inlaid mother-of-pearl designs inspired by a fantastical world imagined by a three-year-old boy. The three creations will be auctioned online from 14 to 25 October 2026, with 100% of the proceeds going to Rainbow Centre. Beyond their striking designs, the collaboration tells a story about creativity, family and the importance of creating opportunities for people of different abilities.

A child’s imagination inspires an extraordinary collaboration

The inspiration behind this collaboration is particularly heartwarming. The Story of Everything began not in a design studio, but during a bedtime storytelling session involving State Property co-founders Afzal Imram and Lin Ruiyin’s then three-year-old son, Mika.

In Mika’s imaginary universe, a young boy travels through the cosmos alongside his companion, Captain Lime. Together, they navigate looping railroads, encounter glowing toadstools and embark on an adventure in search of a golden egg.

What started as a child’s imaginative tale eventually became the foundation of State Property’s The Story of Everythingjewellery collection, which also celebrates the brand’s tenth anniversary.

The collection embraces the freedom of childhood creativity, where ordinary rules do not apply and even the most unexpected ideas can become something beautiful.

For this collaboration, three motifs from Mika’s imaginary world have been reinterpreted on MORNING coffee machines, with mother-of-pearl inlays carefully applied by hand.

“The Story of Everything began with our son telling us about a world that existed entirely in his imagination. We loved the freedom in the way he told it; there were no rules about where the story could go or what belonged together,” shared Lin Ruiyin, Co-founder of State Property.

The collaboration also reflects the shared design philosophy of two Singapore-born brands working in different industries. While State Property specialises in fine jewellery, MORNING focuses on elevating the coffee-making experience through technology and design.

Meet the three one-of-a-kind coffee machines

The collection comprises three individually designed MORNING coffee machines, each inspired by a different element of Mika’s imagined universe. Every piece is unique, combining the functionality of a coffee machine with the intricacy of fine jewellery craftsmanship.

1. The Railroad

Starting bid: S$1,350

Inspired by the winding railroad in Mika’s imaginary universe, this design features mother-of-pearl tracks extending across both sides of the machine. Its playful curves represent the unexpected directions an adventure can take.

On display: MORNING at New Bahru, 46 Kim Yam Road, #01-13.

2. The Toadstool

Starting bid: S$1,250

Drawing inspiration from a planet covered in glowing mushrooms, The Toadstool features an intricate pattern inspired by a mushroom cap. Mother-of-pearl pieces contrast against the machine’s black surface, creating an iridescent effect.

On display: MORNING at Takashimaya Shopping Centre, Level B1, #B1-30A.

3. The Cosmic Egg

Starting bid: S$1,150

The Cosmic Egg takes inspiration from the star-like gemstone settings in State Property’s jewellery collection. Delicate mother-of-pearl details appear across the machine’s side panels, creating a celestial pattern that changes subtly as light reflects off the surface.

On display: State Property boutique, Takashimaya Shopping Centre, Level 3, #03-09B.

All three machines will be available for public viewing throughout the auction period, giving design enthusiasts and coffee lovers an opportunity to appreciate the craftsmanship up close.

A collaboration that gives back to the community

While the machines themselves are beautiful design pieces, the initiative carries a larger purpose. All proceeds from the charity auction will support Rainbow Centre, a Singapore organisation that provides programmes and services for children and adults with disabilities and their families.

For nearly four decades, Rainbow Centre has worked towards creating opportunities for persons with disabilities to learn, grow and participate meaningfully in society.

The partnership is particularly fitting given the origins of The Story of Everything, a collection rooted in a child’s imagination and the belief that every individual’s perspective has value.

“We are delighted that State Property and MORNING have chosen Rainbow Centre as the beneficiary of this unique collaboration. It is a wonderful example of how creativity, craftsmanship and purpose can come together to create social impact,” said Peng Hai Ying, Executive Director of Rainbow Centre, Singapore.

She added that beyond raising funds, collaborations like these also help increase awareness and understanding of inclusion for persons with disabilities.

The initiative demonstrates how businesses can extend their creative expertise beyond traditional products to support causes that make a difference in the community.

How to participate in the State Property x MORNING charity auction

When design and purpose come together

At a time when collaborations between brands often focus on exclusivity and limited-edition merchandise, State Property and MORNING have introduced an additional dimension by connecting craftsmanship with charitable giving.

The partnership is also a reminder that creative inspiration can come from the most unexpected places, including a bedtime story told by a three-year-old.

By transforming that imagination into functional works of art, the two Singapore brands have created something that extends beyond jewellery and coffee. More importantly, the auction offers collectors and design enthusiasts an opportunity to support Rainbow Centre’s ongoing work.

Whether you are a coffee enthusiast, a design lover or someone looking to contribute to a meaningful cause, this charity auction is worth exploring.
