A Mother’s Day treat with unlimited ice cream, pink rooms and a little bubble science at MOIC Singapore

0 0

There are some places in Singapore that children enjoy once and then quietly move on from. Museum of Ice Cream (MOIC Singapore) is not one of those places for my daughter.

This was Divisha’s fourth or fifth trip to MOIC and somehow, she was still just as excited as the first time. Maybe it is the promise of free-flow ice cream. Maybe it is the giant pink installations. Maybe it is the fact that every corner feels like it was designed for children to run, laugh, pose, explore and ask for “just one more scoop”. Whatever the reason, MOIC has become one of those easy-win places for us when we want something fun, colourful and reliably child-approved.

This time, we visited with friends and gave it a slightly different spin. Instead of treating it as just another ice cream-filled outing, we joined the Magic Bubble Science Lab, a new workshop by Museum of Ice Cream in collaboration with Curiosity Kids. With Mother’s Day around the corner, it also felt like the kind of experience that makes sense as a shared treat. Not just for the kids, but for mums who want a day out that is fun, low-pressure and genuinely memorable.

More than just ice cream at MOIC Singapore

For anyone who has not been, Museum of Ice Cream Singapore is located at 100 Loewen Road, Dempsey and is open daily from 10am to 7pm. The space spans 25,000 sqft and features 12 multi-sensory installations, designed around the joy, nostalgia and imagination of ice cream.

Yes, there is real ice cream included. In fact, ticket holders get to enjoy unlimited servings of ice cream, with up to 19 flavours and toppings available as part of the experience. There are also interactive rooms, whimsical photo spots and playful installations that make it feel part museum, part indoor playground and part dessert adventure.

What I have always liked about MOIC is that it does not try too hard to be serious. It leans fully into play. Children can wander through bright, sensory spaces, grown-ups can take photos without feeling awkward and everyone can pause for soft serve in between. It is one of those rare places where you do not have to keep saying “don’t touch that” every five minutes.

For a Mother’s Day outing, that matters more than we admit.

The workshop that made our visit to MOIC Singapore feel new again

The highlight of this visit was the Magic Bubble Science Lab, a hands-on children’s workshop by Curiosity Kids, an educational organisation known for interactive STEM workshops. The workshop is designed for children aged 4 to 11 and focuses on the science of bubbles and colours through play-based learning.

The session runs for 30 minutes and is led by educators from Curiosity Kids. Children are given the full little-scientist treatment, with lab coats, goggles and all materials provided, which immediately makes the experience feel special. The children get to take part in simple experiments that explore chemical reactions and colour creation in an accessible, hands-on way.

Divisha loved it. So did her friends. The workshop had the right balance of structure and fun, which is not always easy with young children. It was educational without feeling like a class, and playful without becoming chaotic. They were curious, involved and excited to see what would happen next. As a parent, that is exactly the kind of activity I appreciate, especially during a weekend or holiday outing.

The workshop also gave us something fresh to enjoy at MOIC, even though we have visited several times before. That is what made this trip feel less like a repeat visit and more like a new experience layered onto a familiar favourite.

Why it works for Mother’s Day

Mother’s Day outings can sometimes feel overly formal. Brunches are lovely, but they are not always the easiest when you have young children who would rather move than sit through a long meal. MOIC Singapore offers something different. It gives families a way to spend time together without forcing everyone into one kind of experience.

For the children, there is ice cream, play and discovery. For mums, there is the joy of watching them fully enjoy themselves, with enough little moments to capture along the way. For families visiting Singapore or planning a local day out, it also works as a cheerful, weather-proof option that feels very much like a treat.

The best part is that it does not need to be perfect. You can go for the ice cream, stay for the installations, add on the workshop and leave with children who are happily tired. That is a pretty strong Mother’s Day formula, if you ask me.

Our verdict

Would we go again? Considering this was already Divisha’s fourth or fifth visit, the answer is very clearly yes.

MOIC Singapore is one of those places that continues to work because it understands its audience. Children want colour, play and ice cream. Parents want an outing that feels worth the effort. The Magic Bubble Science Lab adds a smart, educational layer to the experience, making it especially appealing for families looking for something meaningful but still fun this May.

So, if you are looking for a Mother’s Day outing in Singapore that does not involve asking your child to sit still for too long, Museum of Ice Cream might be worth adding to your list. Go for the unlimited ice cream, stay for the bubble science and leave with sticky fingers, happy photos and at least one child asking when they can come back again.
