This Mother’s Day (9 May 2021), Shangri-La Singapore has planned a smorgasbord of treats for the most important lady in our lives. From dine-in experiences at seven of its outlets to takeaway options and a variety of retail items, it has prepared something for every taste and preference.

Curated to offer only the best for mum, the line-up features dining experiences underpinned by quality seasonal produce, along with goodies that are beautifully designed to please the eye and palate.

At The Lobby Lounge, a high tea with a Peranakan theme is available daily throughout May to celebrate mum who deserves to be pampered any day. The high tea features a fusion of cuisines, including Scones, Chili Crab with Otak Tart and Nyonya snacks like Kueh Salat and Ondeh Ondeh. Elevate the entire experience with Nyetimber, one of the first English sparkling wine producers to exclusively grow Champagne grape varieties, through a wine tasting flight. Two set lunch options, each sufficient for four persons, are also available for the family to celebrate over delicious Peranakan cuisine that warms the bellies and hearts. The premium set includes Popiah with Lobster, Nyonya Chap Chye with Pork Belly and a Kueh Lapis with Prunes. The set lunch menus are also available for takeaway, with a beautiful Sakura Peach cake for dessert.

Cosy up with mum at The Rose Veranda with a luxurious tête-à-tête on the Mother’s Day weekend. From 1 to 31 May, this Shangri-La Singapore high tea institution since 1991 will serve a special menu featuring its signature sandwiches, mains and three-tiered desserts. The hotel has collaborated with Nyetimber, England’s leading producer of sparkling wine, to present a tropical twist on the British tradition, complete with vibrant floral displays at the restaurant. Guests can increase the celebratory mode by pairing the high tea with a glass, bottle or wine tasting flight of Nyetimber Classic Cuvee, Nyetimber Brut Rosé, and Nyetimber Cuvee Chérie Demi-Sec. This will go well with delectable items such as the Mum’s Favourite Classic Egg and Ham with Truffle Pressed Panini, Seared King Prawns and Rose Crème Brûlée Tart. This special menu can also be enjoyed at home, made available as a takeaway option, albeit sans mains.

Over at well-loved buffet restaurant The Line, commemorating Mother’s Day starts on 7 May and lasts through the weekend. With its wide range of cuisines available, a meal here will cater to even the fussiest of palates in the family. Indulge in the Fresh Boston Lobster, Alaskan King Crab (9 May lunch and dinner only) and Canadian Fresh Oysters. Nourish mum with the Superior Double-Boiled Duck Soup with Chinese Yam and Dried Oyster, and Double-Boiled Ginseng Black Chicken Soup with Mee Sua. The line-up also has a focus on eating well, with many plant-based dishes like Beet and Spinach Salad, Seasonal Wellness Seafood Hand Roll and Vegan Chicken Slider. End the meal with special sweets created just for the occasion, including Mango Passion Marguerite Choux and Strawberry Shortcake Jewel Sphere.

Shangri-La Singapore’s four other restaurants are also marking Mother’s Day with their own special menus. Of note is the Takeaway Nourishing Beauty Pot from Shang Palace, enough for eight persons, so it can include grandma and great-grandma too. Among the delicacies are abalone, sea cucumber, fried fish maw and scallop, mixed in with herbs like bei qidang shen and wolfberries. The restaurant will also serve a special set lunch and set dinner on 8 and 9 May, perfect for mums who appreciate refined Cantonese cuisine. NAMI too has created a Magokoro (Japanese for “devotion”) lunch and dinner menu with sashimi and grilled items, among others.

At Waterfall Ristorante Italiano, mama’s boys and girls can savour a hearty brunch buffet or set dinner on the Mother’s Day weekend. Expect cheeses, cured meats and the freshest ingredients from Italy to create well-loved pastas, pizzas and main dishes in the brunch. A takeaway family feast is also available. Origin Grill has rolled out the stops too, for mums who love their meats. Organic An Xin Roasted Poulet and a Duo of Steaks count among the a la carte specials, while a selection of three and four-course lunch sets – each offering different options – are available on 8 and 9 May.

Show appreciation for the queen of the family with the array of goodies and gifts available. Specially designed chocolates and delicious cookies created by Shangri-La Singapore’s team of pastry chefs convey sweet well-wishes and gratitude. In addition, Area Executive Pastry Chef Herve Potus has created two exquisite cakes, the Sakura Peach and the Earl Grey Floral for a delightful treat. Curated gift sets with wine, cookies, chocolates and more, as well as bouquets, make for convenient items to brighten mum’s day on the special occasion. Pick these up from the Mother’s Day retail booth at the hotel’s Tower Wing lobby from 30 April to 9 May (7am to 8pm) or place an order online to have the items delivered to mum.
