From rare collector cars to cinematic journeys through Europe’s legendary touring routes, Concours d’Elegance Singapore brought automotive heritage, craftsmanship and storytelling together at IMBA Theatre. Held from 13 to 16 August 2026, the four-day event offered visitors a closer look at an exceptional collection of classic, vintage and exotic automobiles. Rather than presenting the vehicles solely as static exhibits, the experience explored the people, places and design philosophies that helped turn them into automotive icons.

Conceptualised and organised by Singapore’s Hustle & Bustle Group, the event was billed as the world’s first immersive Concours d’Elegance. It reimagined the traditional automotive competition through large-scale projections, cinematic environments, live judging and expert-led conversations. The result was an experience that sat somewhere between a prestigious motor show, a design exhibition and an immersive cultural showcase.
Concours d’Elegance Singapore was more than a display of beautiful cars
A Concours d’Elegance, which translates from French as a “competition of elegance”, traditionally brings together distinguished vehicles to be evaluated for their design, condition, provenance and historical importance. The Singapore edition retained that sense of prestige while expanding the format for a wider audience. It was not simply about admiring polished bodywork or taking photographs of rare cars. The exhibition encouraged visitors to consider how each automobile had been designed, engineered, restored and preserved.
Across the gallery, collector vehicles were selected for their historical significance, distinctive design language and engineering pedigree. Curated showcases from luxury marques complemented the privately owned automobiles, highlighting the craftsmanship and innovation associated with some of the world’s best-known automotive names. This storytelling-led approach helped make the event accessible even to visitors who might not consider themselves serious car enthusiasts. The vehicles became entry points into wider conversations about art, culture, history and human creativity.
As Pow Ying Hern, Chief Creative Officer and Co-Founder of Hustle & Bustle Group, explained ahead of the event: “Every extraordinary car carries the imprint of the people who designed it, built it, restored it and preserved it.”
A cinematic journey through the Grand Touring tradition
One of the event’s defining features was its use of immersive digital environments to place the competition cars within landscapes inspired by famous European Grand Touring routes. Large-scale projections evoked destinations including the Alps, the Stelvio Pass and the rolling countryside of Tuscany. These settings provided more than an attractive backdrop. They helped visitors understand the environments and journeys that shaped the history of Grand Touring automobiles.
Instead of encountering the cars only beneath conventional exhibition lighting, audiences were invited to imagine them moving through mountain passes, sweeping roads and dramatic European landscapes. It was an effective way to bring context to automotive design. The cars could be appreciated not just as objects of luxury, but as machines created for long-distance travel, demanding roads and a particular era of motoring culture. The experience also reflected the wider creative approach of IMBA Theatre, which opened at Gardens by the Bay in January 2026 as a space where art, technology and storytelling could come together.
Live judging offered a look behind the polish
At the heart of Concours d’Elegance Singapore was the formal competition. Presented as a FIVA Premier Event, the competition saw selected collector automobiles assessed against internationally recognised standards. The judging considered factors such as condition, authenticity, rarity, historical significance, technical qualities, aesthetics, elegance and style. Preview Day ticket holders were able to witness the live judging process on 13 August. This offered a behind-the-scenes look at the expertise and attention to detail involved in evaluating a Concours-worthy vehicle.

The day concluded with a Gala Dinner and Awards Ceremony, which recognised the outstanding automobiles and the custodians responsible for preserving them. The winning cars then remained on display during the public exhibition from 14 to 16 August, accompanied by recorded highlights explaining elements of the judging process. This provided useful context for visitors. A beautifully maintained classic car can be visually impressive on its own, but understanding its history, originality and restoration makes it possible to appreciate why one automobile may stand apart from another.
Conversations beyond the showroom floor
The programme extended beyond the main exhibition through a series of “Tyreside Chats”. Held within the gallery, these discussions brought together industry specialists, collectors, marque experts and invited guests to explore subjects including automotive craftsmanship, collecting, heritage and the future of car culture. Representatives from the event’s official bank partner, J.P. Morgan Private Bank, also participated in selected sessions, sharing perspectives on legacy, collecting and the enduring appeal of exceptional automobiles.
Away from the exhibition space, members of the Malaysia and Singapore Vintage Car Register and participating exotic car clubs joined car meets travelling from IMBA Theatre to Dempsey Hill. The wider programme also included Tours d’Elegance, a community drive and classic motoring treasure hunt for eligible vehicle owners. These activities helped extend the event beyond a conventional indoor showcase, creating opportunities for enthusiasts and collectors to connect around a shared appreciation of motoring heritage.
Celebrating the people who preserve automotive history
Although the cars were undoubtedly the visual stars of the event, Concours d’Elegance Singapore also placed considerable emphasis on the people behind them. Restoring and maintaining a historic automobile can require years of research, technical knowledge and careful decision-making. Owners and restorers often become custodians of a vehicle’s story, preserving its character and provenance for future generations.
By highlighting these personal journeys, the event made a persuasive case for viewing rare automobiles as pieces of cultural heritage rather than simply expensive possessions. The Malaysia and Singapore Vintage Car Register played an important role as co-organiser. Founded in 1955, the organisation represents historic car and motorcycle owners across Singapore and Peninsular Malaysia and is a founding member of FIVA, the international federation for historic vehicles. Its involvement helped anchor the exhibition in the region’s established community of collectors and automotive enthusiasts.
A different kind of motoring experience for Singapore
Singapore is already internationally associated with contemporary motorsport through the Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix. Concours d’Elegance Singapore offered a complementary perspective, turning attention towards automotive history, preservation and design. By pairing traditional Concours judging with cinematic storytelling, the event showed how car culture could appeal to audiences beyond collectors and dedicated motoring fans.

The four-day showcase celebrated extraordinary machines, but its larger story was about creativity, memory and the human desire to preserve exceptional design. For visitors, it offered the opportunity to slow down, look beyond the polished exterior and discover the histories that made these automobiles worth remembering.
Concours d’Elegance Singapore was organised by Hustle & Bustle Group and co-organised by Dezign Format and the Malaysia and Singapore Vintage Car Register. IMBA served as the venue partner, while J.P. Morgan Private Bank was the official bank partner.
