From beads to beeswax: Why the Tanjong Pagar Designers Clan treasure hunt is a must-visit this May

0 0

Happening from 16 to 19 May 2025, the Great Tanjong pagar Designers Clan Treasure Hunt brings together 14 homegrown brands for a weekend of hands-on workshops, exclusive shopping perks, and family-friendly fun across Tanjong Pagar.

Last week, my daughter Divisha and I had the joy of stepping into a world of craft, colour, and community at the Tanjong Pagar Designers Clan media preview — and let me tell you, we were both completely smitten.

From the moment we arrived, it felt like we’d stumbled into a design playground. Divisha made a beeline for the beeswax wrap workshop (pun intended!) and absolutely loved getting hands-on with sustainable materials. There’s something special about watching your child learn and create with purpose — and for us, that little beeswax wrap is now a prized kitchen staple at home.

But the surprise hit of the day? The Living DNA creative workshop, where she got to design her very own home moodboard with textures, patterns, and colours. I swear she’s now planning to redecorate our living room.

What is the Tanjong Pagar Designers Clan?

Launched in February 2025, the Tanjong Pagar Designers Clan (TPD Clan) is a heartfelt collective of 14 Singapore-based brands brought together by a shared love for craftsmanship and community. Think of it as a beautifully chaotic group chat that finally became reality — except instead of memes, you get handcrafted jewellery, sustainable fashion, bespoke tailoring, and interior treasures.

There’s a genuine kampung spirit here: each brand brings something unique to the table, but together they form an ecosystem of local creative brilliance.

Fashion with soul and story

If you’re looking to update your wardrobe with pieces that mean something, this is where to go.

  • Carrie K. offers workshops where you can uncover your soul gemstone and craft a “wearable wish” — perfect for anyone who loves a personal story behind their jewellery.
  • Lechelle Petite‘s jewellery-making session (from $78) lets you assemble your own elegant floral pearl piece. It’s luxe, hands-on, and surprisingly meditative.
  • Jun Couture and Lark + Peony are where tradition meets trend. Their modern takes on cheongsams and kebayas are pieces you’ll treasure, not just wear once.

Personal reco? Check out the Craft Your Own Modern Kerongsang workshop at Lark + Peony — it’s like a grown-up version of dress-up, but with culture and creativity baked in.

Comfort meets craftsmanship

We also popped by Palola, where Josh Leong himself was offering shoe fitting masterclasses. Ever wanted to know what your foot type says about your ideal heel? This is your moment. His tips on spotting a good fit were eye-opening — and I’ll never buy heels the same way again.

Meanwhile, WHYANDCO and The Prefecture are perfect if you’re after timeless menswear or impeccably tailored resort shirts with a twist. These aren’t just clothes — they’re style journeys.

Sustainability that inspires

One of my favourite things about the TPD Clan is how deeply rooted it is in mindful making.

  • Something sustainable (fitting name!) curates eco-conscious fashion from regional labels — bonus points for offering a sidecar tour experience that doubles up as a treasure hunt!
  • August society‘s swimwear is made from recycled fishing nets — and comes in family-matching styles. Yes, you read that right.
  • And then there’s EDEN + ELIE, whose intricate beadwork is handmade by artisans on the autism spectrum. Their quiet elegance speaks volumes.

The treasure hunt goes live tomorrow — Here’s why you should go!

The Great TPD Clan Treasure Hunt runs from 16 to 19 May 2025, and it’s honestly one of the most charming, hands-on ways to support local. It’s not just about shopping — it’s about engaging with the makers, discovering stories, and picking up a new skill (or three).

What you’ll find:

  • Over 10 unique workshops from jewellery-making to shoemaking to sustainable living.
  • Exclusive event-only discounts and goodie bags.
  • A chance to win a grand prize worth over $2,000 if you complete the full treasure trail!

Come for the shopping, stay for the stories

Whether you’re a creative soul, a conscious shopper, or just looking for a fun day out with the family (yes, it’s very kid-friendly!), there’s something magical about the way the TPD Clan brings people and passions together.

So gather your friends, bring your kids, and carve out some time this weekend to explore Tanjong Pagar like never before.
