Last weekend, Divisha and I had the absolute pleasure of attending the media launch of Ranger Buddies @ PLQ Parkside: Missions Around the World, and what a delightful adventure it was! As a mum constantly on the lookout for engaging and meaningful activities to do with my three-year-old, this experience ticked all the right boxes — fun, interactive, educational, and filled with positive energy. From the moment we stepped into the immersive park setup, we were transported on an eco-mission that left Divisha asking important questions about nature and how she could help save the planet.
Watching her navigate through the Trouble on Everest mission with such excitement — rescuing red pandas and learning about melting glaciers — was a joy in itself. For her, it was a playdate filled with colourful characters and cool gadgets. For me, it was a valuable moment to witness her curiosity being nurtured and her awareness of the natural world growing. It was also heartening to see a thoughtful experience like this brought to an urban setting, allowing families like ours to connect with nature while spending time in the city.
A purposeful play adventure in the heart of Paya Lebar
Calling all young explorers and their families! Paya Lebar Quarter (PLQ) and Mandai X – the growth and impact venture-building arm of Mandai Wildlife Group – are partnering on a two-year initiative to bring Ranger Buddies @ PLQ Parkside: Missions Around the World to Paya Lebar Quarter.
From this April, children and their families can embark on educational missions at PLQ Parkside that are designed to foster environmental conservation awareness and encourage eco-conscious choices in their everyday lives. With this collaboration, playtime is not just fun, it’s meaningful by sparking the curiosity of young minds and supporting positive change.
The first of eight missions, Trouble on Everest, launches on 22 April 2025 in celebration of Earth Day, and runs until 5 June 2025. The experience will transform the scenic PLQ Parkside with an immersive setup that blends real-life and augmented reality activities, transporting children to the Himalayas to investigate why a village at the foot of Mount Everest is flooding, rescue red pandas, and help clean up the village. This initiative builds on the success of the 2021 Ranger Buddies mission at PLQ and looks to bring conservation education beyond the destination of Mandai Wildlife Reserve to urban spaces where families shop, dine and play.

A mission-driven journey across the globe
The globe-trotting adventures continue until 31 December 2026, as Ranger Buddies: Missions Around the World takes children and families on a variety of missions that include addressing the illegal wildlife trade in South Africa, fighting habitat loss in the Great Barrier Reef, and protecting the Amazonian rainforest from deforestation.

At the heart of the programme is the C.O.U.R.A.G.E. framework, which focuses on developing seven essential life skills in children. Through these mission-based challenges, Ranger Buddies encourages kids to be adaptable, curious, and brave – shaping a future-ready generation through experiences that are as impactful as they are exciting.

What’s an adventure without rewards? Upon completing each mission, children will earn exclusive badges from Jimmy Monkey Café (PLQ Parkside #01-10), located just a short walk from the mission site. Families can also look forward to exclusive dining offers specially curated for Ranger Buddies by participating PLQ Parkside F&B outlets including KAKE by Carbon&, Salvo by Pasta Fresca, Tanglin Cookhouse, Tomoro Coffee, and Zing.
