Stranger & Sons, a proudly Indian gin, has landed on the sunny shores of Singapore. Celebrating the agricultural might, entrepreneurial spirit and diverse cultures of its homeland, Stranger & Sons evokes the essence of the sub-continent in every bottle.
Founded in 2018 by Rahul Mehra, Sakshi Saigal and Vidur Gupta, three gin lovers from Mumbai, the trio chose Goa, the start of the spice belt, as the location for their distillery. The origin of the gin started with a mythical being with two tails, three eyes and a human hand known to be native to the mountain range of the Western Ghats, who only makes her appearances at dusk and dawn, frequenting local bars in Panjim, Goa and swapping secrets for drinks with Strangers. From here, the founders inherited the recipe for an Indian spirited gin and the brand’s rather strange ethos, which governs how their drinks are prepared, stories told and where they make an appearance. While the creature is a rare sight, everything they do it filtered through her third eye.
Stranger & Sons robust flavour is a perfect blend of black pepper, nutmeg, mace, coriander, liquorice, cassia bark, angelica, juniper and a medley of four aromatic citrus peels. As a socially conscious brand, Stranger & Sons is mindful of its impact on the environment and commits to choosing practices and partners that help the brand stay true to its sustainability goals. From managing the wastewater at the distillery to employing local women to help make jams, pickles and cordials from the remaining fruits that are used for every batch of Gin, Stranger & Sons strives to collaborate with brands that have social consciousness built into their DNA. Championing women in the industry is also an important pillar to Stranger & Sons brand ethos, with a female CEO, Master Distiller and Brand Ambassadors on the team.
In Singapore, Stranger & Sons have partnered with Dyspatchr, a locally based distribution company with a mission to find unique spirits from around the world and bring them to Southeast Asia. Kaustubh Negi, the Senior Bartender at The Old Man Singapore, has joined the family as a regional ambassador for the brand. Born in India and raised in Singapore, Kaus has been in the Singapore bartending scene since 2015 and was nominated last year as one of Singapore’s Rising Stars at The Bar Awards. His love for the industry came from his fascination with how cocktails could offer a complexity akin to food.
To mark their entry into the market, Stranger & Sons launched ‘Strange Times’. Strange times call for strange measures, and in support of the industry, Stranger & Sons launched its first collection of pre-batched cocktails. Made in collaboration with some of Singapore’s best bars such as 28 HongKong Street, Tippling Club, Neon Pigeon, The Old Man and Native, the initiative was launched during Circuit Breaker at a time when the brand was looking for exciting ways to help keep spirits up during times when the hospitality was facing challenges due to the pandemic. During this period, Stranger & Sons also partnered with the Singapore Cocktail Bar Association, a non-profit organisation that champions the local craft cocktail culture to support the bars in Singapore during these times.
Each Strange Times pre-batched cocktail comes shaken, stirred and ready to serve. Cocktails from the campaign include:
1. ‘Wing & A Prayer’, inspired by classics like the Negroni and Lucien Gaudin by 28 HongKong Street
2. ‘East to West Negroni’, a take on the classic Negroni by Tippling Club
3. ‘Lady Shiso’, a blend of shiso juice and gin by Neon Pigeon
4. ‘Solidarity’, a twist on the Gimlet by The Old Man
5. ‘Bengal Sling’, a showcase of the robust flavour or Stranger & Sons by Native

Stranger & Sons Gin is currently available in Goa, Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore and now Delhi. Internationally it’s available in Singapore, Thailand and the United Kingdom. The brand will soon be exploring other domestic and international markets as well.
