Singapore’s 61st birthday is getting a seriously sweet spin at the Museum of Ice Cream Singapore this August. From complimentary admission for seniors to limited-edition gelato inspired by familiar local flavours, storytelling sessions and ice cream-making classes, Museum of Ice Cream Singapore is rolling out a series of SG61 experiences for families and ice cream lovers throughout the National Day period.
Whether you are planning a multigenerational family outing over the long weekend or simply looking for something fun and different to do in Singapore this August, here is what to expect.
Guests aged 61 and above enter free from 7 to 11 August
In a fitting nod to Singapore’s 61st birthday, guests aged 61 and above can enjoy complimentary admission to Museum of Ice Cream Singapore from 7 to 11 August 2026, when accompanied by at least one paying ticket holder. Visitors will need to present a valid ID for the senior guest together with the accompanying paid adult ticket. The complimentary ticket will correspond to the same ticket tier purchased by the paying guest.
Do note that the promotion is intended for individual guests and does not apply to large groups, corporate bookings, private events, bulk purchases or group tours. It could make for a fun excuse to bring grandparents or older family members along for a colourful day out together.
Try Coconut Gelato with Glutinous Rice and Sambal Gelato
Perhaps the most intriguing part of the SG61 celebrations is happening at the dessert counter. Throughout August, Museum of Ice Cream Singapore is teaming up with MasterChef Singapore Season 2 winner Derek Cheong, his concept Berempah Bros and local gelateria Denzy Gelato for two limited-edition Scoop of the Month creations.
Visitors can choose between:
- Coconut Gelato with Glutinous Rice
- Sambal Gelato
Both flavours will be served as ice cream sandwiches at PlaySpace and finished with Berempah Bros’ signature crunch. The collaboration brings together Denzy Gelato’s locally made gelato and Derek Cheong’s culinary approach, with the two creations offering a playful interpretation of flavours familiar to Singaporeans. Sambal and gelato may not be the most obvious pairing, but that is probably exactly why we are curious.
Bring the kids for a free storytelling session
Families visiting on 8 August 2026 can also catch a complimentary storytelling session featuring Me and My Monsterfrom 4pm to 5pm. Written by Singaporean author Mark Lim and illustrated by Cacticyn, the rhyming picture book introduces children to emotions through imaginative storytelling. The session will be followed by a hands-on craft activity for kids. Even better, no advance registration is required, with walk-ins welcome.
Learn how ice cream is made
For curious kids and grown-ups, Museum of Ice Cream’s Ice Cream Making Class returns on 9 and 10 August 2026. The sessions are designed to give ice cream lovers a closer look at the science behind making the dessert. Standalone tickets cost $25, while MOIC members can join for $20. A $60 package including General Admission is also available. It is a nice option for families who want something slightly more hands-on than the usual National Day outing.
Pandan waffles are on the menu too
The local flavours do not stop at gelato. Throughout August, visitors can also pick up pandan waffles with creamy hazelnut spread from the MOIC Outdoor Dessert Bar, Café and Diner. They are priced at $12 for the public and $9 for MOIC Annual Members. Between coconut, sambal and pandan, there is certainly no shortage of Singapore-inspired treats to work your way through.
