Remember sneaking snacks into class, trying to avoid your teacher’s attention or desperately wishing you could do absolutely nothing during a lesson? This October, Junction 8 is bringing those cheeky school-day memories back with a playful event that promises laughter, friendly competition and plenty of rewards.
From 15 to 17 October and 22 to 24 October 2026, Junction 8 in Bishan will transform into a nostalgic playground with Beat the Stress: The Ultimate Schoolyard Showdown. Designed for students looking to escape exam pressure, working adults seeking a break from deadlines and anyone who misses the carefree days of school, the event features a series of hilarious challenges inspired by familiar classroom experiences.
The best part? All activities are completely free, with no minimum spending required. Participants can also walk away with vouchers, exclusive goodies and a chance to win prizes.
Three nostalgic zones to bring out your inner school kid
Spread across three activity zones within Junction 8, the event encourages visitors to revisit some of the most memorable, and occasionally mischievous, moments from their school days.
Zone A: Sneak a snack and prove you’re the ultimate eating champion
Who remembers secretly eating during lessons while keeping an eye out for the teacher? At Level 1, the Siammm Teacher Sneaky Eating challenge recreates that familiar classroom experience, inviting participants to enjoy a snack without getting caught.
Those with a competitive appetite can also try the Jiak Champion Eating Challenge, where participants race against the clock for a chance to win prizes. Whether you were the class troublemaker or simply someone who could never resist a snack during lessons, this zone promises plenty of laughs.
Zone B: Master the art of doing absolutely nothing
In a world of constant notifications, endless to-do lists and packed schedules, doing absolutely nothing can feel surprisingly difficult.
The Nua One Corner Challenge, also located on Level 1, invites participants to put their devices away and spend 10 uninterrupted minutes simply relaxing. No scrolling, no multitasking and no pressure to be productive.
It might sound easy, but when was the last time you genuinely sat still without reaching for your phone? Consider this your official permission to switch off and embrace the art of doing nothing.
Zone C: Bring back the flying duster and slipper
For many who grew up in Asian classrooms, the flying duster is an unforgettable school-day reference. Junction 8 gives that memory a playful makeover with the Just Whack! challenge on Level 3. Participants can test their aim through two games, Duster Throw and Slipper Flipper, which turn familiar school-day objects into entertaining target challenges.
This time, however, the duster and slipper are aimed at targets rather than misbehaving students. Whether your throwing skills are impressive or hilariously inaccurate, this is one challenge worth attempting with friends.
Everyone gets rewarded for joining the fun
Unlike the school examinations many of us remember, there are no disappointing report cards here. Every participant who takes part in the challenges will receive vouchers or goodies from participating Junction 8 brands, with exclusive Beat the Stress sticker packs available at selected activities. Those with a competitive streak can aim for even bigger rewards. Top performers at selected challenges stand to win up to S$40 worth of eCapitaVouchers and brand vouchers, depending on their results.
At Zone A, first-place winners can receive a S$20 eCapitaVoucher alongside S$20 in brand vouchers, while second- and third-place participants can win S$30 and S$20 in brand vouchers respectively.
Over at Zone C, successful participants can earn rewards according to their performance, with the highest tier offering a S$5 eCapitaVoucher and S$15 in brand vouchers.
Complete all three zones to unlock the ultimate graduation prize
For those determined to make the most of the experience, completing all three zones in a single day unlocks the opportunity to claim the Ultimate Graduation Prize. Eligible participants stand a chance to receive rewards such as two Golden Village movie tickets, S$15 KOI Cards or other vouchers and gifts. Redemption takes place at Zone C and is limited to the first 100 participants each week, while stocks last.
Whether you’re visiting with your colleagues, organising an outing with friends or planning a fun weekend activity, completing the full schoolyard circuit could make the experience even more rewarding.
Shop your way to S$200 in eCapitaVouchers
Beyond the nostalgic games, Junction 8 is introducing another incentive for shoppers this October. From 15 to 24 October 2026, shoppers can stand a chance to become one of the mall’s top 10 spenders, with each winner receiving a S$200 eCapitaVoucher.
Visitors can also explore the mall’s dining and lifestyle offerings, including Jiak Ba Food Heaven, Zhang Liang Mala Tang and Randy Indulgence Acai Bar. Those looking to combine their visit with some shopping or family time can check out Decathlon for sporting essentials, Samata for self-care offerings or Sunshine Childhood Playland for children’s entertainment.
With more than 150 stores and direct connections to Bishan MRT station and Bishan Bus Interchange, Junction 8 offers an accessible location for a midweek break or weekend outing.
