The March school holidays are a welcome break for families across Singapore. For many parents, it also brings the familiar question of how to keep children entertained, engaged and away from screens for a while.
Fortunately, this year’s holiday calendar offers a vibrant mix of creative workshops, cultural festivals, immersive learning experiences and nostalgic family events. From art activities and playground adventures at VivoCity to ocean conservation workshops, Peranakan street celebrations and Pokémon arcade battles, there is plenty happening across the island to keep young explorers busy.
If you are looking for fun and meaningful ways to spend time with your children during the March school holidays, here are some of the most exciting activities to consider.
Creative fun and family rewards at VivoCity
One of Singapore’s largest shopping destinations is transforming into a lively playground for families this March school holidays. VivoCity is rolling out a month-long programme of activities designed to spark creativity, encourage play and offer dining perks for young visitors.
A highlight is the “Celebrate 20 In Colours” Kids Club activity, taking place on 14, 15, 21 and 22 March along West Boulevard on Level 1. Children who are members of the VivoCity Kids Club can participate in a hands-on art experience where they create their own abstract artwork. These colourful creations will become part of the VC20 Memory Wall, commemorating VivoCity’s 20th anniversary.
The activity is limited to the first 400 Kids Club members, and participants will also receive an exclusive goodie bag. Adding to the excitement, the three most creative designs will each win $200 worth of prizes.
Beyond the workshop, families can enjoy several kid-friendly experiences around the mall. The Play Court on Level 2 offers an open-air playground where children can run, climb and burn off energy. For something a little different, ZooMoov Safari Adventure features safari-themed electronic rides that bring a playful, amusement-park feel to a mall visit.
Families who prefer quieter moments can head to Harbourfront Library, one of Singapore’s most beautiful public libraries. The children’s zone includes a dedicated makerspace for kids aged three to nine as well as augmented reality books that bring stories to life through technology.
Dining perks also make a visit worthwhile. Kids Club members can enjoy a free kids meal at Nong Geng Ji with a minimum spend of $60, while Soup Restaurant offers a special promotion where March babies dine free with an accompanying adult from Monday to Thursday.
Together, these activities make VivoCity an easy one-stop destination for a full family day out.
Dive into marine adventures at Ocean Kids Festival
For families looking for something both fun and educational, the Ocean Kids Festival at the Singapore Oceanarium offers an immersive way for children to learn about marine life this March school holidays.
Running from 13 March to 12 April, the month-long festival transforms the oceanarium into a kid-focused learning playground filled with hands-on activities and storytelling sessions.
Children can step into the shoes of marine professionals through role-play activities where they dress up as marine veterinarians, divers or animal care specialists. Through these experiences, they gain insight into how marine scientists and conservationists protect ocean ecosystems.
Interactive storytelling workshops and ocean-inspired craft sessions add another creative dimension to the festival. These activities are designed to spark curiosity while helping children build a deeper appreciation for the marine environment.
The festival’s approach blends education with play, encouraging young visitors to see the ocean not just as a place of wonder but as a world that needs care and protection.
Located at Resorts World Sentosa, the Ocean Kids Festival is a great option for families looking to combine entertainment with meaningful learning during the holidays.
Experience culture and heritage at Armenian Street Party
The March school holidays also coincide with the return of one of Singapore’s most colourful cultural celebrations. From 13 to 15 March, Armenian Street will transform into a lively heritage festival with Armenian Street Party: A Peranakan Gathering.
This vibrant street event celebrates the rich traditions of the Peranakan community through food, performances and interactive experiences.
Visitors can wander through immersive street installations inspired by Peranakan motifs, snap photos at themed installations and sample a range of culinary delights. Expect everything from nostalgic kueh picnics to inventive dessert pop-ups inspired by Peranakan flavours.
Hands-on craft workshops allow families to explore traditional art forms, while live performances bring music, storytelling and cultural expression to the streets.
A particularly playful addition this year is a collaboration with Mediacorp inspired by the upcoming drama “Aunty Lee’s Deadly Delights.” Crime-themed experiences woven into the festival add a lighthearted twist to the cultural celebrations.
Visitors can also enjoy discounted admission to the Peranakan Museum’s special exhibition “Peacock Power: Beauty and Symbolism Across Cultures” during programme hours, making the street party an ideal starting point for a broader heritage outing.
For families who enjoy combining culture with entertainment, this event offers a lively and engaging way to explore Singapore’s multicultural heritage.
Pokémon excitement arrives at United Square
For many children and nostalgic adults alike, Pokémon remains a beloved part of childhood. This March, fans can step into the action at the Pokémon Mezastar Carnival, taking place at United Square from 21 to 22 March.
The carnival celebrates one year of Pokémon Mezastar in Singapore, a popular arcade experience that blends strategy gameplay with collectible Pokémon tags.
Unlike traditional arcade games, Mezastar encourages players to build teams and battle using physical tags representing their favourite Pokémon. The result is a fast-paced gaming experience that combines digital play with collectible excitement.
During the carnival, visitors can enjoy a wide range of activities including live tournaments, carnival-style games and interactive play zones. Pokémon-themed prizes and Meza Tag giveaways add to the excitement.
The highlight of the event will be the Ultimate Challenge Finals on 22 March, where the top 16 players from each category compete on stage for championship glory.
Taking place at United Square’s Main Atrium from 11am to 7pm, the carnival promises a lively atmosphere filled with cheering fans, competitive gameplay and plenty of photo opportunities for Pokémon enthusiasts.
Whether your child is discovering Pokémon for the first time or you grew up collecting the original trading cards, the event offers a fun and nostalgic family outing.
Ride with Pokémon on the Singapore Cable Car adventure
Pokémon fans can take their adventure even higher with the Pokémon Day-to-Night Adventure on the Singapore Cable Car, running until 30 April 2026. The themed experience transforms selected cable car cabins into colourful Pokémon worlds, creating a unique ride between Mount Faber Peak and Sentosa.
By day, classic Pokémon including Pikachu, Eevee, Charmander, Jigglypuff and Gengar appear across the cabins, with themed interiors that make the ride feel like stepping into the Pokémon universe. After sunset, the experience becomes interactive. From 7.45pm onwards, riders receive a UV torch that reveals hidden glowing Pokémon silhouettes inside the cabins. Flying-type Pokémon such as Dragonite, Pidgeot and Aerodactyl appear under the light, and keen-eyed fans may even spot the elusive Mew.
From 13 to 31 March 2026, locals, including Singapore Citizens, Permanent Residents and pass holders, can enjoy a round trip on the Mount Faber Line for just $8.80 per person, down from the usual price of $33 for adults and $22 for children.
Just in time for the school holidays, this promotion offers an accessible way for families to spend a day out together — whether it’s a quick cable car adventure with the whole family, a scenic ride across the harbour before heading up to Mount Faber Peak and into Sentosa, or simply taking in the skyline views from above.
Tickets will be available from 13 March onwards via the Singapore Cable Car ticketing counters and online store.
Making the most of the March school holidays
The March school holidays provide a perfect opportunity for families to slow down, explore the city and create new memories together.
What makes this year’s line-up particularly exciting is the diversity of experiences available. Children can express creativity through art workshops, learn about ocean conservation, explore cultural traditions or dive into arcade competitions.
From shopping malls and museums to oceanariums and community festivals, Singapore continues to prove that meaningful family experiences can be found around every corner.
For parents planning their holiday calendar, these activities offer a great starting point for days filled with discovery, laughter and shared adventure.
