You know that kind of weekend where you just know it’s going to be one of those memories you’ll replay for years? That was us last Saturday. I brought my daughter along for Christmas at UOL Malls for the “Season of Sparkles” and from the moment we stepped in, she was already buzzing.
From the first twinkle of fairy lights to the final ride of the night, she barely stopped smiling. She squealed in delight when she saw the one and only Elmo wandering the mall, gave the biggest hug to Cookie Monster and then looked at me with wide eyes that said: “Mum, this is the best day ever.”
As for me? Well, I knew this would be good. But I didn’t expect to fall a little in love with the festive spirit all over again. There’s something about seeing holiday decorations through a child’s eyes, everything feels bigger, brighter, more magical.
Christmas at UOL malls is all about songs, snowfall, rides and so much cheer
If you head down for Christmas at UOL Malls (that’s United Square and Velocity@Novena Square) between now and 28 December 2025, you’re in for a proper treat. Think musicals, meet-and-greets, carnival rides, bubble “snowfall”, craft workshops ,and yes, tons of photo ops.
At United Square there’s a merry little musical featuring Elmo, Cookie Monster, Bert and Ernie ,with a sprinkling of holiday magic. Shows run from 28 November to 7 December, weekdays at 1pm & 7pm, weekends at 1pm, 4pm & 7pm(just note: no show on 2 December).
And just before each show there’s a 10-minute “Bubble Magic Time”. Yes, bubbles falling like snow. The look on the kids’ faces? Unforgettable.
Down at Velocity@Novena Square, there are roving appearances by favourite pals- think Abby and Count on weekends 29–30 Nov and 6–7 Dec at 2pm. Great chance for a spontaneous meet-and-greet if you time it right.
Then there’s the delightful carnival by Uncle Ringo. From 28 Nov to 28 Dec, the Festive Carousel, Aeroplane ride and Sonic Train are running, colourful, playful, nostalgic and perfect for kids (or big kids at heart).
Sprinkled in between are craft sessions, décor that screams holiday cheer and enough photo-worthy corners to fill at least one memory book.
Why we absolutely loved Christmas at UOL Malls
I’ve been to many mall “events” but this one struck a chord. There’s a warmth to how it’s put together- the holiday tree at United Square, the thoughtful décor, the joy bubbling in the air when kids run from one corner to another. It’s festive but generous, playful but not chaotic.
For Dishu, the magic came from meeting her Sesame Street pals, the hugs, the waves, the shy grins. It’s rare to see her that lit up. For me, it was nostalgic and joyful. Watching her dance during the musical, riding the Sonic Train together and catching her sparkle-eyed glance when confetti or bubbles floated past.
There was also something quietly beautiful about the giving-back efforts at the same time- a reminder that holidays are as much about kindness and community as they are about lights and gifts.
How to make the most of your visit: Christmas at UOL Malls
If you’re planning a trip there, here’s what helped us have a smooth, joyous day (and what I’d tell a friend if you asked for tips for Christmas at UOL Malls):
- Try to get to United Square at least 20 minutes before showtime, queues for meet-and-greet passes fill up fast.
- Dress comfy. Between rides, bubble time and snacks kids might get messy (or soaked, if the “snowfall” gets wild).
- Combine both malls (United Square and Velocity@Novena) in one outing, they’re close and each offers a slightly different vibe.
- If you’re eyeing the limited-edition merch (tote-umbrella, travel bag, notebooks) go early. They tend to go fast.
- Keep an eye on the schedule, especially for meet-and-greets and appearances (timings don’t always stay the same).
- Bring a camera (or make sure your phone is charged). The décor, kids’ reactions and all the little moments, you’ll want to come home with photos.
A little Christmas magic, perfect for families
There’s something so pure and joyful about watching your child’s eyes widen at a familiar cartoon character or ride a carousel under festive lights. This isn’t just a mall outing. It’s a little bit of holiday magic wrapped up in music, laughter and warm feels.
If you’re looking for a nice, easy-to-plan family outing this season, one that doesn’t involve screens or long queues, this “Season of Sparkles” at UOL Malls is a dreamy bet.
So grab the kids, wrap them up in cosy clothes, bring a camera and maybe an umbrella (just in case). Let yourselves get swept up in the bubbles, the laughter, the music. And maybe, just maybe, you’ll catch yourself smiling as wide as they do. See you there ,and happy holidays!
