MAYINART has come up with If Walls Could Speak, an exhibition showcasing works of Southeast Asian artists from different walks of life. The exhibition focuses predominantly on the work of Indonesian artists from Java island, as well as Indian and leading Singaporean artists of the modern era. The exhibition is being held at Ion Art Gallery from February 1 to February 11, 2020.

Kartika Affandi- Indonesian master artist with co-founders Krish and Avik of Mayinart

A living legend of Indonesia, Master Artist Kartika Affandi (daughter of Indonesian Legend Affandi) will be doing a live “finger” painting for the showcase, inspired by her travel during Chinese New Year in Singapore this year. The style of expressionism in her work is conveyed as she directly squeezes from tubes of paint with her fingers, endowing raw emotion in snaking patterns onto her paintings – a technique exclusively used by her father. Some of her works featured are Windmill in Netherland (Acrylic on canvas), Lotus, and Japanese Temple (Oil on canvas).

Artwork by Budi Ubrux

Award-winning artist Budi Ubrux has gained international experience from when he lived in Switzerland as a billboard artist and painter. His paintings are alarming and haunting, yet aesthetic and alluring; he finely hand-paints headlines and contents from newspapers and wraps it around figures or objects of his artwork. Some notable works on display are Tea Break (Oil on Canvas) and Untitled (Oil on Canvas).

Mayinart uncovers artists from the most interior and rural areas, rather than popular market places and hyped commercial locations; places where people are a part of nature. Typical rural areas have low population density and small settlements. People in such locales are often not gifted with the talent to communicate but are bestowed with naturally immense creativity and vast emotions that are illustrated through their works.

Mayinart.com is a platform that will bring such work to the open public and directly to consumers and like-minded partners. This platform aims to help artists have their work circulate globally.
