Nostalgia is indeed a strange emotion and our brain is stranger. The latter, I say, is more weird because it surprises you. Which image at what point of time will trigger which memory from what part of the brain – you never know!
As usual, today I reached my office at around 8:50 am. Now, I have been working in the same office and coming down to the exactly same location from the past eight months or so. I pass by the same garden before I reach my workstation every single day. However, today my brain decided to play a little game with me.
While passing by the garden I looked at a few blooming red roses. The view of those red roses immediately took me more than a decade back to my primary School – BR DAV. It reminded me of the beautiful lush gardens in my school. The vibrant dahlias and the colourful roses, which we were always so tempted to pluck. It reminded me of Ram Prasad Bhaiya – the school guard whose sole duty was to keep mischievous kids (like myself) at bay from the lawns.
It took me back to an era, which was probably the most beautiful one of my life. The carefree age, the time when a bruise on the knee or a lost H.W. notebook were the only major problems of life. Nostalgia, indeed, is a strange emotion.!
