Love is friendship. We all have read, heard or come across this philosophy at least once. One of the best ways to exemplify and validate this beautiful ideology is the relationship between Ronald Bilius Weasley and Hermione Jean Granger. (Yes, I am a hopeless Pottermore and I cannot help it.)
Now, there is no way that a Potterhead would not agree to the fact that Ron and Hermione give us some serious friendship as well as love goals.
Here are 5 amazing things we learn from the Ron-Hermione equation
- Annoyance leads to Affection and Irritation to Intimacy, As love Grows
Hermione and Ron are two characters that could not be more different. They hated each other initially. With Hermione being a book worm and a know-it-all while Ron struggling in all classes, theirs is definitely not a love-at-first-sight story. However, as they grow closer as friends, they eventually learn to love those habits that they once hated.
So, Ron and Hermione teach us that love does not always have to flowery and two people do not always have to be very similar t grow fond of each other. With time, we learn to accept and appreciate each other for who we are and who would want to miss out on their Ron/Hermione in life!?
2. Friendship is the Foundation of Love
If anything, this is one philosophy, which Ron and Hermione definitely teach us. Friendship is indeed the foundation of true love and companionship. The kind of trust, reliability and faith that these two friends have upon each other is commendable. There were times when both of them almost put their lives at stake for the sake of each other.
Be it the Wingardium Leviosa spell fearlessly used by Ron to save Hermione’s life during the chess scene in the first part of the story or the time when Malfoy called her Mudblood, Ron always took care of Hermione carelessly.
3. It is okay to have Clashes, Important to Forget and Forgive
During the horcrux hunt when Ron loses it and starts feeling suspicious of Hermione and Harry (under the influence of Voldemort’s devil necklace), the three of them have a fight. Ron leaves them alone in the middle of the jungle and goes away. Harry and Hermione were both badly hurt. However, when Ron finally gets clarity and decides to come back, Hermione and Ron patch up immediately. She understands Ron’s perspectives, forgives and forgets.
It is crucial to be understanding and forgiving for a relationship to survive and strengthen. Point noted. Lesson Learnt.
4. Jealousy: A Surprisingly Effective Catalyst of Love
From Victor Krum to Lavendar Brown, all the other people that Ron and Hermione dated orchestrated their love for each other. Their romantic ventures with other people made both of them realize their love for the other and also the fact that they did not fancy seeing each other with someone else.
Jealousy, to an extent, is crucial, even a catalyst to felicitate good relationships. If taken in a healthy way, it brings two people closer.
5. Love Prevails, No Matter What
From romantic yule balls to dementor attacks and from quidditch games to deathly hallows – the Harry Potter franchise teaches us that love prevails at all times – good and bad. Remember the time when in the last movie/book, during the finale fight scene when Ron and Hermione find themselves in the Chamber with the Basilisk fang on their way to destroy a horcrux and their first kiss happens!
Well, this scene teaches us the value of life, the importance of loved ones in life and bottom line – no time is a wrong time to show some love!
