Those who have it, complain; those who don’t have it, yearn for it. Indeed jobs have become like shaadi ke laddus – जो खाए वो पछताए जो ना खाये वो भी पछताय ! Now, I, fortunately (rather unfortunately….errrrr ok may be fortunately..aaaa.. don’t know!!) fall on the side of those who have one. Yes. I am employed. Yes. It has its perks. (Pays my bills… Doing what I love…. Am I? Well….errrrr)
See, what confuses me more is that the entire cycle of life is like a vicious circle. There is nothing new in what I am writing. All of us, at some point of time, have come to realise this sad reality. We want to travel, explore, simply sit back in our cosy couches with coffee and books; and actually LIVE our lives. But Hey! We all need money to travel, explore, simply sit back in our cosy couches with coffee and books. Hence, we all need jobs.
Sometimes, especially when the weather is like this (rainy – romantic for most, lazy for me), I feel that I am stuck. I am stuck in this trap where I work for the entire week waiting for weekends and the entire month waiting for salary day! I work hard to earn money, which pays my bills and also lets me enjoy a few nibbles of the beautiful thing called LIFE.
Things as small as enjoying a carefree cup of tea to serve my चस्का for च्यास become distant fantasises. You have to wake up like robots every day of the week on a set time, get ready in a given duration and wear presentable clothes (wwhhhhhhaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyy) to go to the factory. (That is what I prefer calling my cubicle. It is indeed a factory where we produce desired work to get labour charges in return.)
Why did I grow up at all? Why did I complete my studies? Why did I learn to make a resume? Why did I appear for interviews? Why did I land a job? Why did I become a part of this system – the system of Life in a Cubicle.
